four wheels and a clutch

I'm not sure if I'm happy...or sad.

I'm happy. It's a big milestone. It's exciting for her and I remember the feeling when I got my first too. But, I remember the feeling when I got my first and I'm not sure I want to let go of her that way yet. I don't really have a choice though. It's inevitable. It will be. No matter how I feel about it.

When I heard that my Niece got her first, I was so excited. Wow...how freakin' awesome! She must be soo excited and then my brain immediately went to Holy Crud, it's real. It's really real and they are growing up. Soon, Rachel will have her first too. They're the same age and though they are very different, they hit these markers at about the same time. My brain went into panic mode. I kept thinking...Ok, she has a permit and will get her license soon BUT she doesn't have one of those yet HAHAHA! I'm safe...for now.

We've been looking. But for some reason, I thought it was further out. We wouldn't find the deal we were looking for. Those come along once in a great while. Simply by chance or a good word from someone. Yeah...figures we would look at just the right time.

I'm sad. I was looking at this thing and thinking of how she could fit all her stuff in the back when she went off to college. That day...that day that she moves out.

She was just starting Kindergarten 2 weeks ago for Heaven's sake! Middle School on Monday, and just beginning her High School career yesterday, Damn it! What the heck!

Sometimes I wish I had, had the opportunity to have more children. But she is my baby and Oldest all wrapped into one cute package. Her wings are growing feathers! Ha!

Aside from my dramatic brain activity, I'm proud of her. It's awesome to see her and my niece becoming such beautiful young ladies. Scary...but awesome.

Yes, it is.

Umm...I don't want to think about that yet, but at the same time, I'm excited to share that experience with her when it happens.

They grow up too fast. Sigh.
