Conversations with Rachel
(7:30am, standing in my bathroom, fussing with my hair)
Her: "Can I use your blow dryer?"
Me: "Sure." under my breath I say "I hate my hair today."
Her: "Mom, it's not bad...It is just different, in a unique way."
It took me a minute to absorb what she said. And then I smiled.

Kids... that reminds me of my 8 year-old. He asked if we could set-off some fireworks when we got home. I said, "I don't think so." He said, "Well that's not a 'no' so I guess it's a maybe." I said, "then I'll be more clear, no. Since you seemed to be a little confused about what I meant." He said, "I wasn't confused, that's just how I look at things."
An optimistic outlook... I like it.
I like it too. She reigns me in, at times, when I need that little...hmmm...push? But she doesn't even know she does it.
Through a child's eyes...
