Since, Rachel spent the night at Lindsay's the night before, she stayed with us last night. Most of the time was spent within the confines of Rachel's room. I could hear laughter, some odd loud noises, pre-teen girls singing away to Shania Twain's "I feel like a woman" and then...then there were these...
Do you remember?
Miss Susie (This one still makes me giggle.)
Miss Susie had a steamboat
The steamboat had a bell *ding ding*
Miss Susie went to heaven
The steamboat went to

Down by the bank, where the bankers plop, bang!
Some things still remain amidst all the very adult things that children see and learn these days. I remember playing these hand claps as long as the recess bell would allow, and sometimes found ourselves running to class just so we could finish what we had started. So, I showed them the ones I remember...
Rockin Robin
He rocks in the tree-top all a day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singin' the song
All the little birds on J-Bird St.
Love to hear the robin goin' tweet tweet tweet
Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Oh rockin' robin well you really gonna rock tonight
Every little swallow, every chickadee
Every little bird in the tall oak tree
The wise old owl, the big black crow
Flapping them wings sayin' go bird go
Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Oh rockin' robin well you really gonna rock tonight
A wordy little raven at the bird's first dance
Taught him how to do the bop and it was grand
He started goin' steady and bless my soul
He out popped the buzzard and the oriole
Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Oh rockin' robin well you really gonna rock tonight
He rocks in the tree-top all a day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singin' the song
All the little birds on J-Bird St.

CeCe
CeCe, my playmate, come out and play with me.
And bring your dollies three, climb up my apple tree.
Slide down my rainbow into my cellar door, and we'll be jolly friends,
for ever more, more, more.
So sorry playmate, I cannot play with you.
My dollies have the flu, boo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo!
I have no rainbow, I have no cellar door,
but we'll be jolly friends, forever more, more, more.
When Rachel was about four, I taught her how to hand clap. Apparently, she is an expert now. She shimys and shakes and does all these moves I don't think I could remember now...

Think 37 is too old to get in the fun again? :P

To be honest, I had to look up the words to Rockin' Robin. I couldn't remember them all. That was my favorite, which is just done to the song itself. Four of us girls gettin' down on the playground. LOL
CeCe was a no brainer. I taught that one to Rachel a long time ago.
Rachel and Lindsay had to narrate the others to me...
You should have seen some of the pictures I took, along with a video. Too cute! I love getting to share in that stuff all over again.
Hand clapping never goes out of style! We used to do one about Miss Molly Mack. Is it wrong to teach your son how to do those? When he was about 4 we used to do handclapping, but he outgrew it pretty quick. Guess it's not really a "guy" thing.
What a great picture of the girls!
Thanks Crystal!
I guess it doesn't go out of style. We did Miss Mary Mack too. I don't see anything wrong with teaching your son when he was younger, but can understand growing out of it pretty quick too. Rachel says the boys just watch them and think they are nuts...lol
It's ok Frenzied, you don't have to say it. It's a given. ;)
